For your consideration is an extremely rare 1994 Charvel SD-1 Lacewood Electric Guitar built in the Jackson Custom Shop. This example is one of the earliest Lacewoods with the desirable body contours in oil finish. I believe it is a solid one piece body. The exact number built is not known, but is said to have been very low between the Lacewood, Koa, and Mahogany. The earliest was built in Lacewood, an exotic wood from Australia. It is a beautiful wood to look at , especially the end grains. It has the chunk of mahogany but not the extreme mids. The highs are very sweet. The original Custom Dimarzios are outstanding. Some say these were Evolutions or a Super 3 combo. That is not the case and these are in fact Custom wound by Dimarzio for these guitars. The neck is maple that contains a blend of flame and birds eye throughout. It is very straight and extremely stable so it is definitely a great one. It holds it's adjustment through whether changes and remains true. It has not been adjusted in at least six moths and still sits perfectly at .009 at the 7th fret. The fretboard is a stunning Pao Ferro. The frets look to have zero wear. The neck is incredible to play with great action and intonation.
The guitar looks to have been barely played at all and is original aside from a new Shaller Floyd Rose. These early one offs had the JT590 Floyd which do not have the hardened saddle inserts. I have owned about 10 of these bridges and only one did not have at least one stripped saddle hole and that guitar was collector owned and not played. Schaller later corrected this issue. The original bridge is included but is in parts. I believe there are two stripped holes which is why it was replaced with an exact higher quality upgrade.
I do not want to call this guitar mint as there area couple of minor flaws, such as a couple of indents near the trem cavity at the rear. It simply had to do with the wood grain and probably came this way from the Shop as it was finished over. The darker spot on the rear is just a discoloration in the wood itself. It is not from any wear. Remember I believe this is a one piece body so I am sure Charvel decided to keep that section for the rear of the guitar. One thing to note is the 5-way original superswitch can make a little scratchy sound as you switch. However, it functions perfectly.
I have not seen another of these in this type of condition. This could possibly have been the first one built as there is no way to tell by the serial numbers. This is a pre-production example. The SD-1 production began in 1995 until 1996 ending with, I think, the SD-IV. The case is original. It does not have the Charvel logo which coincides to it being one of the earliest built. This is a true USA Custom Shop guitar. I ship insured immediately upon cleared payment and update tracking. The buyer of this fine guitar will not be disappointed!
