Modulus Neck Thru Short Scale Built like an Alembic Graphite neck bass.

This is an early to mid 1980’s Modulus bass. In my email with Geoff Gould he stated he made 5 or less of these basses. He said the process to make these basses was very expensive.

The Bass is in excellent condition with a few very minor dings. This bass could easily be resorted to mint but is really great just the way it is. The tail piece and bridge are Alembic style, it looks like at one point someone tried to paint the tailpiece black, much has worn off.

The body consists of a beautiful mahogany really rich in color and the top and back woods are Cocobolo (from the pictures Geoff thought it was Cocobolo).

The neck is straight and is set up with very low action with no buzz. It is the only Modulus bass I have ever seen with a neck thru like Alembic did it with 95% through the body and the last 5% wood.

I think many of the ideas form this bass started from his work with Alembic. Mahogany sandwiched between a beautiful top and back woods, tail piece and bridge, short scale and the 95% neck through construction.

The bass has emg pickups and three controls. Control one is the volume for the neck pickup, control two is for the bridge pickup and I am not sure what the third control does because it is hard for me to tell the change in tone.

The bass is a joy to play and sounds awesome.
