About This Listing

Anyone that has sat me down in conversation in the last 28 years and mentioned the bass guitar knows full well that Spector basses are my favorite basses in the whole world. I think this fact is even in Wikipedia somewhere, buried deep in those secret government documents that were leaked by B. E. Manning a few years ago. In any event, when I first laid eyes on this NS-2, I should have won the "Best Supporting Actor" award for keeping my poker face on. I mean, inside, I was so excited, I was giggling like a schoolgirl, but on the outside I had to keep my cool. I wanted this bass so badly, I would have cut both my wrists right there had I blown the deal, but my years of Navy Seal training kept me steady and after about 15 minutes of speaking with the seller, this bass was mine! When I showed it to Lee, all he said was, "It's heavy" and that brings me to the old joke, "How do you get a guitar player off your front porch? Pay him for the pizza..." Slightly aggravated, I thought about the fact that he wouldn't know a cool or limited bass guitar if it fell out of the sky and conked him on the head. I, however knew that there was something special about this NS-2 and after doing a bit of research and getting a call from our "eye in the sky" at Spector, it turns out that this bass is 1 of only 2 made in this configuration. The first was made for the boys down at Bass Central in Florida and the second was made for a customer who saw the one in the store and wanted one for himself, but with a nicer top. This gentleman was the source for this bass and we were honored to take possession of it. It features an absolutely stunning Cocobolo top married to a Black Walnut body and not only is this combination of woods extremely pleasing to the eye, it gives a tone that sounds like freight train on steroids. I literally could not put this bass down! The neck is round and full, so if you prefer a meatier, P- Bass type profile, you'll love this bass from the second you pick it up. Now I would be remiss in my duties if I did not mention that this bass is indeed heavy: It is by no means a boy's toy. It will take a man to properly handle this beast, so to whomever purchases this instrument, let me forewarn you; When you strap this bass on, you'll know you're wearing a serious, professional- grade instrument whose sole purpose is to change lives and take command of any sonic environment. That's not psycho babble- it's simply the truth, so if you see this bass disappear from our website without being marked as "on hold" or "sold", you'll know I kept it for my personal collection. I may be along in years, but I've never been afraid of anything with four strings and I'm not about to start now. Questions, requests and comments are always welcomed- now it's time to go play bass!
