Overview

The 6121 Chet Atkins was a solid-body compliment to the 6120 Chet Atkins hollowbody. It featured block inlays engraved with a western theme, tooled leather body binding, and a steer inlay on the headstock. Some late 1956 models featured block inlays without engraving. These features continued until 1957, when the block inlays were replaced with Gretsch's "humpback" inlays, and later the "thumbprint" inlays. This version of the 6121 is very similar to the 6130 Roundup produced at the same time, but the Roundup features a knotted pine top, and the adjustable Melita bridge.
