This is an early production Yamaha FG-180 red label guitar that was made in Japan sometime between 1966-1971. After that
period production moved to Taiwan and the color of the label changed to beige. These respected guitars have been described as a poor man's Martin and were used by a variety of folk players over the years.
Features of this model include:
- Spruce Top
- Mahogany Back & Sides
- Indian Rosewood Fret-board
This guitar has had a rough life from it's appearance and needs someone to love and treat it right. It shows lots of cosmetic flaws, including scratches, nicks and gouges, however it's still a nice players guitar for someone who doesn't mind (or embraces) the tattered look. The bridge does have a crack along the middle (see close-up). The open-back machine heads do exhibit some sympathetic buzz if you leave play in them. One of the tuners has non-stock screws holding it in place. This guitar holds tuning and has a decent set of strings on it.
Please carefully review pictures of the actual instrument for details about its condition. Michigan residents are required to pay 6% sales tax.
Be sure to check out the FairSquare Music shop for a variety of quality guitars. Thanks for looking, feel free to ask any questions, and have a great day!
