A Squier Japan Long-Scale (34") Bullet bass. I was told long ago that it was an '84, and the Reverb article on Fender serial numbers corroborates it should be from '83-84. I have dropped price, and I am now offering this bass with the better quality, fully functioning black square EMG Select P-bass pickups installed, which I added in 1990, when the original pickup went out. In this incarnation, it is a very solid P-bass style choice with some authentic 80's character, ready to rock out of the box.
The sale will include the white, rounded original bullet bass split pickup (pictured also) and the original white pickguard. The original bullet bass pickup has one coil shorted. the other coil is working, and working well. It will all be labeled so the buyer can have it re-wound, thus restoring some of the collectible value. I can provide details about it of desired. The original pots, cap, jack and harness will be wired into the bass with the EMG pickup.
Other non-original parts: the 80's molded Ibanez tuners, which are very nice, and were on it when I acquired it in 1989, and the speed knobs, also on it when I acquired it,
It has a wonderful maple neck that is amazingly playable, with nice rounded edges; they just don't make the necks on any modestly priced Fender bass like this anymore. 1 5/8" nut. 12th fret Action is 1/8" on low E, 3/32" on G. It can go down further if desired. The body is unique in that it has no tummy cut and arm contour, and is slightly more compact than a P-Bass. Frets have a little wear but are plenty good as is. They have enough life for a dressing if desired.
Minimal cosmetic damage to the body: Some light front side superficial play wear, hardly any buckle rash, only a few dents that do not cut into the wood. Some expected wear along the edges of the neck, and two blems (pictured) near headstock. Has a Fender hardshell case from the 80's.
CONUS buyers preferred. But check first if you have a shipping request
