About This Listing

Silvertone  "Hornet" model 1451 solid body guitar with amp-in-case.

This guitar/amp combo was produced from 1966-1967. It's a solid body guitar (not the Masonite body that was standard to most Silvertone amp in case models).

The amp is exceptionally good sounding and very quiet with no hum! While the amp is low volume (it can be mic-ed for stage use), it's ideal for recording. It breaks up smoothly and has an unexpected range of expression. The speaker has been replaced with a period correct one.

The guitar has very few dings/scratches. It's missing a neck bolt and the "volume" and "tone" labels on the control knobs (the photos should clearly show those). The black with gold sparkle finish still has a nice gloss. Plays great - the neck seems to me to have a more modern contour and shape. The guitar sounds great through other amps and has a nicely different sound from the usual Tele, Strat, Les Paul solid body electrics. Both the amp and the guitar are a desirable addition to a player's arsenal for both recording and stage!

The case shows wear with small tears; two edges are bound with black duct tape. For a reasonable price, an affordable price, you get a great guitar and a great amp, and a vintage collectible - !
