Introducing the Hammett Guitar Co. H161 'Slim Twin' hollow-body electric guitar.
Styled on and in homage to the Kay 161 'Thin Twin' the original Chicago electric blues, rock'n'roll guitar this guitar features
Hand-crafted in Bristol, UK - Hammett Guitar Co. is the subsidiary of D+H Cigar Box Guitar Co. - a guitar company with an international reputation for quality.
From Hammett Guitar Co. -
The 'H161 'Slim Twin'' is a guitar whose inspiration and lineage comes from the most famous Chicago Blues guitar model of all - the Kay 161 'Thin Twin', a guitar favoured by the forefathers of the electric blues / blues boogie era - a bloodline that was as prevalent back then as it is today.
The full hollow-body construction allows for a plethora of microphonics to sculpt the tone from the dual MOJO Hershey Bar pickups. When both pickups are selected the individual volume controls effectively blend the two delicate pickups, resulting in limitless tones. This is a guitar that will wrench you back to an electrified guitar era of old... however this instrument should not be confined to blues style guitarist alone. The tight ABM 'Harp' trapeze + floating bridge arrangement will perfectly suit for delicate jazz players too.
The ultra-thin heritage cherry 3-colour nitro-cellulose sunburst allow the timbers to ring out and the quilted wood grain to delicately show through the top+back, the combination of which gives a light relic-look without strangling the tone of the materials used in its construction.
The body, neck and headstock have been accented with vintage celluloid tortoiseshell/ white/black 3-ply binding and accompanied by a matching tortoiseshell headstock overlay. The oversized tiger-shell celluloid pickguard is again another nod to the original guitar.
Hand carved Honduran Mahogany neck w/ rear Rosewood skunks-stripe, Honduran mahogany head + tail and centre block, Gabon Ebony fretboard with Block Mother-of-Pearl Inlays, steam-bent Sycamore body rims, hand-made Ebony/ Maple/ Tortoiseshell art-deco bridge base. The pick-ups on this guitar are faithfully hand-wound recreations of the Harmony 'Hershey Bar' pickups, hand produced by Mojo pickups out of the UK - specific to this guitar model and to sound true to the Kay 161 'Thin Twin' guitar that it's inspired by.
Each model is unique and varies, study the imagery closely for the guitar being advertised in this sale.
