Rare 1960's Siemens Sitral Console, 18 inputs, 12 preamps, 2 Compressor/Limiters

Up for sale is a rare 1960's Siemens Sitral recording console with 18 line inputs, 12 preamps, 2 U273 limiter/compressors,  direct outs, and fully discrete/balanced circuitry. This console has been meticulously restored over 6 months and is now in excellent, like-new condition. This is the finest sounding discrete console I've used and has far more tone and inherent warmth than a similar vintage Neve Kelso or any new or vintage API console. 

The 1960's Siemens Sitral consoles were some of the first discrete transistor consoles manufactured and are closest in sound to the wonderful tube based Siemens/Klangfilm consoles. According to the late engineer and audio historian Oliver Archut, the Beatles used Siemens Sitral A consoles while mixing most of the Beatles films in the 1960's. For comparison, just one V276 preamp in the 1960's cost more than a VW Beetle, and an entire Siemens Sitral console cost more than most houses. As far as build quality, sound quality and craftsmanship the 1960's Siemens consoles are arguably the finest discrete consoles ever manufactured: All the switches are gold plated, all the transformers are custom wound and shielded Haufe transformers, and every single stage of the console is balanced and fully discrete. In the 1950's and 1960's Siemens was to consoles as Neumann was to microphones. 

The excellent sounding 1960's Sitral modules were the basis for many Neve designs, including the included U273 limiters. To quote to Oliver Archut: "In 1960, Siemens introduced the U273 the world’s first solid state compressor.  There is a dispute over whether or not Neve based their 2254 compressor on this module.  There are striking similarities to the schematics but one of the main differences is that the Neve uses Marinair transformers while the U273 used Haufe.  The Siemens U273 is one of the best sounding transistor compressors ever made." Although Neve consoles based some of their designs off of Siemens modules, the 1960's Siemens consoles used arguably higher quality switches and like their tube predecessors - a fully balanced signal path - including fully balanced switches, and fully balanced 600 ohm attenuators.

This console has been painstakingly restored with all new Belden I/O wiring (terminated to Switchcraft XLR connectors), fully recapped with new electrolytic capacitors, meticulously cleaned, all faults repaired, and meticulously tested over 6 months of regular use. In addition to the restoration work a TAB headphone amplifier was added, and two 3X1 submixers were added - giving the console 18 total line inputs. The two 3x1 submixers use Langevin rotary attenuators, 6 1970's Hammond input transformers - which then feed into channels 11 and 12. This console is a rare, fully loaded version of the Siemens Sitral series and includes:

18 total line inputs (12 line inputs with stepped pan switches, two hall sends, soloist/direct out pre/post switch, EQ bypass, and two 3x1 line submixers to provide an additional 6 inputs for mixing down from 16 track tape)
12 discrete inductor based, transformer balanced, equalizers (5 - W295B and 7 W295)
2 discrete transformer balanced U273 compressor/limiter modules
24 preamp inputs (12 preamps selectable from 2 sources each - 10 V276 preamps and 2 custom Siemens preamp modules. Direct outs are post-preamp or post-fader/post-EQ depending on the soloist switch located on the channel input/routing module.)
2 hall/reverb send V272 type discrete transformer balanced output amplifiers
2 V282B 6 channel +12dB discrete transformer balanced output amplifiers (12 channels of direct outs wired to XLR)
1 talkback module and talkback microphone (both tested and working)
1 TAB headphone amplifier with level control.
1 EMT plate remote (not currently in use)
2 monitor outputs via 2 EAB balanced faders.
Discrete/transformer balanced buss amplifiers, summing amplifiers, and meter driver amplifiers.

1 - High Pass Filter Equalizer
1 - Low Pass Filter Equalizer
1 - Spare W295 equalizer module (working)
2 - U274 preamp/limiter modules (can be used in place of the V276 modules)
1 - large box of spare switches, modules, knobs, transformers and blank panels.
