About This Listing

Guild Newark St. M-75 Aristocrat

This Guild Newark St. M-75 Aristocrat is versatile, light as a feather, and prefers martinis shaken, not stirred. The Aristocrat has an elegance and charm that rivals 007 himself, and when it comes down to it the Aristocrat can handle practically anything you throw at it.

Though it may appear at first glance to be a solid body guitar (no f holes), the Guild M75 is in fact a gracefully carved chambered guitar with a braced spruce top. At 5.5lbs you can kiss any sore shoulders goodbye - this is one of the most comfortable guitars to play. The hollow body lends to a crisp and light attack, and gets away with decent sustain. It’s like a hollowbody with more power, and less tendency to feed back. The 3 piece mahogany/maple/mahogany neck has a vintage soft U shape, rosewood fingerboard, 9.5in radius and plays like butter. Guild decked this out with a Tune-o-matic bridge and Grover open gear 18-1 tuners. The previous owner took impeccable care of his instruments and besides some finish swirling the guitar shows hardly any signs of playwear.

The icing on the M-75 are the Franz P90 pickups: crisp, clear, and articulate. Jazz is sweet and crispy, but can warm up without getting muddy from the tone knob. Overall the guitar is incredibly responsive to the players touch and sensibility. If you have the ability to control your picking dynamics, this is the guitar for you. The neck pickup is vocal, and sweet, middle position gives chime tones for days, and the bridge is bright and powerful. Overdriven the Aristocrat has a lot of power. The bridge pickup in particular has a snarl and bite when driven hard through a tube amp. Though it sings with a jazz tone, this guitar can still get down and dirty.

This Guild Newark Aristocrat is light as a feather and ready to throw down the gauntlet. Hollowbody tone plus power minus feedback, in the right hands the Guild Aristocrat is a powerful and highly capable instrument.

***This guitar may be a second from the factory. Really amazing regardless***
