Patrice Vigier has been making basses since the 80s, and is always trying to improve his designs, creating a consistent and “effortless to play” instrument. First introduced in 1996, the Excess bass has been tuned to perfection and is the culmination of a simple, yet elegant instrument of the highest quality. This bass features a fantastic feeling, high performance neck shape, combined with a low action and superb electronics. Acoustically this instrument has a resonant tone like a vintage instrument, and when plugged in it delivers full bandwidth tone that can accommodate any style of Metal (I mean music). The 10/90 neck system features a Carbon core neck, this means no truss rod to worry about, this neck is always perfect. Not having a truss rod also means the neck is solid, and transfers vibration into the body with better tone than standard truss rod designs.
