DOES NOT FIT:
Any PRS import models. This does not fit any SE models. See our shop for the correct truss rod cover for those guitars.

Manufacturing and Finish:
This model has a matte finish.
Each truss rod cover is machined on a CNC router. They are sanded to 800 grit and finished using a drying fretboard oil. They are then oiled once again using lemon oil. This gives them a finish very similar to a new fretboard (which was our goal)!

Installation:
  • Remove the screw holding your old truss rod cover, then remove the truss rod cover from your guitar. You'll need your screw, so keep it handy and don't lose it.
  • Put away your old truss rod cover (compartment in guitar case is recommended). Hang on to it.
  • Test fit the Unique Component truss rod cover. Press the bottom of the cover to the nut, and check the alignment of the screw hole opening with the screw hole in your head.
  • If the truss rod cover does not align perfectly with the hole (we're perfectionists), sand the bottom of the cover. You should use 400+ grit sandpaper. When sanding, hold the truss rod cover at a 15 degree angle tilted back (back of truss rod cover closer to sandpaper). This is the part that touches the nut. Shouldn't take more than a couple strokes.
  • Install truss rod cover using OEM screw. DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN. Over-tightening risks stripping the wood in your headstock as well as splitting the truss rod cover at the grain.
Maintenance:
For matte models: Remove from guitar and apply fretboard oil or lemon oil whenever cleaning/conditioning fretboard. Wipe off and allow to dry before placing cover back on guitar.
