Made by Matsumoku but unbranded- meaning it's not a Univox or Ventura, etc. It's just analogous to those brands because it was made in the same place (Matsumoku Japan). Many of the blank headstock guitars like this one were sold via catalogs like Sears or Montgomery Ward, making them not only collectible, but nostalgic too. This guitar was held hostage in a closet collecting dust for the last 20 years. Open book headstock indicates Pre-Lawsuit Era. Deep cleaning done, pickups pulled and checked, 3 way, output jack, and original pots all checked and cleaned with De-oxit and work perfectly. All original gold hardware beautifully aged and cleaned. All black surfaces and fret board cleaned with Murphy's Clean and Shine Oil Soap. Cosmetically the Gold plating coming off on the top of the tail piece was the only thing that wasn't cohesive to the way the rest of the gold hardware has aged on this guitar, so I did a quick fix and went over it with steel wool and went over it with a gold enamel marker. I also added a new set of D'Addario 10-46's after cleaning and it plays and sounds amazing. Guitar was set up again professionally by Patrick McGrath at AB Music in Huntington Beach, Ca. The transition from the body of this guitar and it's bolt on neck is clean and smooth at the joint and the Upgraded Greco U1000 (Maxon Super 70's) Gold Cover Pickups in this guitar sound absolutely amazing and are highly sought after by Vintage Collectors and tone enthusiasts alike.
