Via Vintage Synth Explorer: "The first commercially available synth to implement MIDI!! It's a funsynth. Its big brother is the legendary . Models withthe newest software will enjoy polyphonic MIDI implementation and up to100 memory patches to store their own sounds! The sound of the Prophet600 is brighter and harsher than that of a but still just as funky.
The P600 has two oscillators per voice with sawtooth, triangle andvariable pulse waveforms. The oscillators can be individually tuned orsynced together. Similar quality VCF and VCA sections from the Prophet 5can be found here too! The P5's Poly-Mod section has also been passedonto the P600." The good news is that this guy has the Gligli mod, which drastically improves the functionality of this synth. From the Gligli page:
"The is a 6-voice polyphonic analog synthesizer released in 1982. It was the first commercially available synth to include MIDI functionality. The 600's analog voice's are controlled by a Zilog Z80 CPU. Though state-of-the-art at the time of its release, the Z80's specs means the synth feels limited and slow to respond to changes compared to modern instruments. Luckily, synthesizer enthusiast & engineer has written for the Prophet 600, designed to run on a . Replacing the 600's Z80 with a Teensy++ running Gligli's firmware adds a long list of features to the classic synth, including:
• Increased resolution for sound parameters • Faster, smoother amplifier and filter envelope generators • New LFO function generator with a wider range • Dedicated vibrato • Unison detune • Mix Overdrive • Full Midi In control of parameters • Improved tuning procedure" I would recommend downloading the manual for the mod, since some of the knobs are reassigned.
There is some minor cosmetic damage, particularly to the wood side panels(see pics), but otherwise in fantastic shape and in perfect working condition •
