About This Listing

Here is a hard to find Gretsch 400 Re-Issue MIJ in 1991 with outstanding quality and sound. This guitar was made prior to the Fender merger. This guitar is in time-capsule condition!!! The flame maple is of AAAAA grade, more figured than most Custom Shop guitars on the market. This is almost 30 years old and looks brand new. It has been played a few times but another time machine find for sure. This model was expensive when it was made and is discontinued . They make only the cheaper Synchromatic model now that is no comparison. This is a great guitar with tons of vibe that is sure to be a vintage collectable. The lower bout is 17" wide!!!

In the 1930’s, Gretsch developed the Synchromatic with art deco appointments in response to the popularity to some Gibson models (Super 400, L-5, L-7,...). This guitar surpasses the qualities of a Gibson without having to pay for the name. This is a premium quality guitar
.

The only visible flaws are with the harp tailpiece. Some of the gold finish has worn off. There are some very vague micro scratches on the guitar body from when it was played, but nothing you will see at an arms length. There is nothing like you may see on other guitars, like buckle rash or anything from extended playing. No damage, no gouges, not cracks, no rattles,...just a beautiful guitar in near mint condition! This guitar has been played at home 90% of its life.

The pickup is a professionally installed is a K&K Pure Classic pickup. Here is the description from the K&K page:
If we were to judge the caliber of acoustic guitar pickups simply by customer response, then the K&K Pure would be the hands-down winner. The version of the Pure Pickup you see here is designed for classical guitars. It uses four pickup heads instead of the three in a steel-string guitar, mostly because any classical pickup needs to straddle the center fan brace, and moving to an even number of pickup elements is an obvious solution.
The guitar has a huge sound acoustically, and has a great mid-range that cuts through when you are playing with other guitar players so you can be clearly heard in the mix!

Whether you're a traditional player, or play with a flamenco or percussive style, this pickup is a great way to amplify your guitar.
Reasonable offers will be considered.
