For sale: The best bass cab ever made.
This is an all original, vintage 1974 SVT 8x10 cab. It's a "squareback" or "straightback" or "flatback" - so it's from among the first run of these cabinets. And holy smokes, it sounds good.
I pulled three of the speakers to check date codes, and they all date to 1974. They're the original square CTS speakers. It doesn't get any better than that. It also has all the original insulation stuff inside the cab.
I did rewire it from the original 4 prong XLR thingy to have just a regular 1/4" jack. This can easily be returned to original if you prefer (if you're matching this with an original SVT that still has that cable), and I still have the original XLR jack if you want it.
This cab looks as awesome as it sounds. The original grill is in surprisingly good shape - there's just one small 1/4" tear near the bottom - you won't even see it unless you're looking for it. I also went to the trouble of removing all the tolex for you (ha ha). When you see an old SVT cab like this used by working/touring musicians, the tolex is always tattered and shredded anyway from dragging this heavy beast in and out of clubs. I've seen a lot of the old ones with the tolex removed where the wood is painted black. I really like the natural wood look, so I'll leave it up to you if you want to paint it.
Local pickup only, unless you're willing to pay probably hundreds of dollars in shipping. You're welcome to come try it out, or I'd be willing to meet somewhere at a reasonable distance. Cash is definitely best, but I'm also open to trade offers - I'm interested in old tube amps or guitars or basses of any sort. Thanks!
