Martin D28 1958

A classic Martin with a beautiful Brazilian rosewood body that needs some serious restoration to bring it back into playing condition.

The guitar was owned by a elderly friend of mine who recently died, and I am selling it for his daughter.  While a serious woodworker, he was not as knowledgeable in instrument repair.   The guitar was played extensively, but the rosewood body exhibits only honest play wear, and no cracks. Neck is straight, but will need a neck set.  Only 1 crack in the top, which is currently open but could easily be repaired.

As you can see, he built and installed his own bridge, and there is some acute bellying of the top. Top appears to be sitka spruce.  A possible replacement with an Adirondack top might be a good solution.

A military style strap was installed in the side of the headstock and in the rear wedge. Tuners are 60's  standard replacement rotomatics.  The owner also carved his name into the back of the headstock.

Included is a hardshell case that could easily withstand a thermonuclear attack, completed with custom handle.
