Up for sale is a 1976 Ibanez Artist acoustic that seems to be a prototype of the 2606 model that later appeared in that year's catalogs (it has different tuners, pickguard, and inlays)

Regardless, it is beautiful and is in excellent condition.  It just isn't possible that this guitar was played very much.  I am a big fan of these guitars, and I can prove it - I have been in a position to buy about half of ALL I HAVE SEEN FOR SALE since 2008 . . .  and that leaves me with six.  Today I am going to put four up for sale, though I will not sell them all.

-  This guitar does NOT have the star tuners that are typical with the Artist acoustic models . . . instead, it has open-gear type tuners.  As I said, it seems to be a prototype - these are the original tuners.

-  The guitar has a bone nut.

-  The action on this guitar is very low . . . It also has one of those adjustable bridges so that you can turn a screw on the treble end or a screw on the bass end and adjust the height up or down (it is set all the way down right now.)

-  This guitar has just two dings, and they are pictured . . .  one on top of the headstock, and one on the back of the guitar.  In addition, on the back I have pictured a finish crack.  Last, there is a dime-sized whitish mark in the finish on the side that is near the bottom in the last picture.  With all that said, this is a 40 year old acoustic guitar that, quite simply put, is in excellent shape.  It seems to shine, just like in the pictures!!

-  This guitar has extensive binding . . .  there is binding on both sides of the headstock, around the top AND around the bottom.  All of the binding is in excellent shape.

-  The neck is inlayed with the stars that are typical on the Artist model, and there is a decorative inlay down the back as pictured.  The very bottom of the guitar is not pictured, but there is also an inlay there where the strap button is.

-  Comes with hardshell case as pictured

-  I don't always know what the correct price is for a vintage (and rare) guitar.  The best answer I have for you is that I need space more than money, so I usually start a little bit high and walk it down slowly over time (rather than considering offers).  I think this one is more of a collector's item than a player, and I hope this represents a good buy for someone.

-  Sound is always very subjective to describe in an advertisement, and as you can see, each person who is selling one will always say generic things like "it has a great sound!" . . .  Hey, allow me to give you a direct example of this BS . . .  here is someone's description from another ad on Reverb.com that I just saw today:

"They still have the traditional low end punch, mild sustain, and woody character of the bass they are attempting to emulate, yet are slightly rounder with a little different character"

Wtf does that even mean?  It isn't really my style to go around like a car salesman . . . So allow me to tell you about the sound in my own way - and this would apply to each of my Ibanez Artist acoustics . . . I have a couple of nice Taylors, a vintage Alvarez Yairi that you would punch your mother's face for, three Gianini Craviola's  . . .  I have a vintage Yamaha FG300, and some other high end acoustics . . .  But they all ride the pine, because my main player (and the best acoustic I have ever played) is my Ibanez Artist 2609.  I also got a 2601 that is probably my main backup.  The two that I am keeping are more beat up, and because of that, they were my players & I had -expensive- pickups put in them.  I am selling some of the others, and I hope - and think - they can be someone's main muse  :)

You are going to love it!
