I have two matched 80s vintage Pyle Driver guitar speakers (8 ohm 12 inch), model number stamped on frame is # MH120290. The power rating isn't listed, but from my research the numbers on the edge of the basket mean that they are model 1202 and are rated at 90 watts each, but in the spirit of not misleading you all I would recommend hitting them with a 50 watt/each load. Both speakers are in very good condition funtionally and aesthetically, especially for their age. Cones are original and absolutely perfect. One has a perfect center cap, the other has some minor wrinkles but is intact and still nice and solid. Both speakers tested at 6.6 ohms with my digital multimeter, and when I powered them up individually with my little 150 watt Crate PowerBlock head (pushed to about 2 o'clock on the master volume, 11 o'clock on the pre, 12 o'clock on all eq knobs) they absolutely SANG, even though they were NOT in a cabinet! I would absolutely love to load these into oversized 1x12 cabs to use as a microstack with the Crate head, but a nearly depleted bank account says they need to go.
This is a great way to get that 80s arena rock tone (meaty mids, fairly thick yet articulate bottom, HIGH highs) with a minimum investment. They sound similar to the early 70s Sunn Transducers I have in my 412 Sunn cabinet, which is what I originally planned on using them in until I found a reconed Sunn replacement for the one I was missing.
Here's where anyone who has been waiting to see what I'm going to do will get their payoff...in a weak moment, I have decided to lower the asking price to the bottom number that I can accept for these speakers. I am now willing to bassically give them away for $40 for the pair. If you only want/need one, I will split them up and sell them individually for $25 each. Any fair and reasonable offers will be considered in the spirit of making a sale happen ASAP, but to be absolutely honest, I really can't shave any more off the price without actually losing money on this transaction so...please be kind!
Shipping cost is the responsibility of the buyer (for product safety, and to make insuring unnecessary, I *seriously* overpack lol)...exact cost will be determined once I know where they are to be shipped, and there will be no hidden "handling" costs added on...I like to keep it honest!
I guarantee the functionality of these pretty amazing, totally underrated speakers to be 100% (well, Derek Trucks loves the 10 inch versions in his Fender Super Reverb, so they can't be too bad, right?), but due to the nature of what they are and the fact that I have no control over what someone might do to them after receiving them, I unfortunately have to sell them "as is". I can give my honest to God assurance that these speakers are in very, very good shape both visually and functionally...I'd love to keep them, but those persistent bill collectors need to be paid! Thanks so much for your interest!
