ERD ERD Earth Return Distortion VCA Eurorack Module Vampiric Edition VERY RARE 2017 Black No. 1

For sale is the very rare ERD/ERD Vampiric Edition Distortion and VCA Eurorack Module.  Purchased brand new from ERD directly, the module has been contained in my smoke-free personal production studio, never been gigged, and racked with nylon washers.  I have additionally made it easier to moisten the soil sample (you will need to do this every 4-6 months dependent upon your environment).  The manual states to submerge the chamber in water, but instead I drilled a hole in the chamber (perfectly sized to use a drinking straw, medicine dropper, or needleless syringe) to easily remoisten the soil sample.  I additionally installed a rubber plug that keeps the chamber sealed, preventing earth from escaping the chamber.  Lastly, I installed a premium Moog knob, but will include the original knob as well.
What makes the module extra cool is that the soil sample contains earth from Golgotha, Jerusalem and Whitby Abbey, England.  The module sounds amazing and can add a great deal of character and harmonics to even the most lackluster sounds.  Use a premium oscillator like the Make Noise DPO or Verbos Electronics Harmonic Oscillator and it cranks the awesomeness to 11!  You can even use your own soil samples by patching into the bottom two jacks and bypassing the attached chamber.

Note about the video: the module needs to have the soil sample remoistened.  When properly wetted you will get full range at all knob settings (counterclockwise is dry and as you crank it clockwise you will introduce added harmonics and distortion).  When the sound only really starts to kick in at the 2 0’ clock knob position and higher moving clockwise, this is a good indicator to remoisten the soil.  You can also visually see the soil sample through the front window.  If the soil looks dry and you aren’t getting a full range of tones at all knob settings, simply moisten the soil and the module will return to its full abilities.

Earth Return Distortion

The ERD/ERD vampiric edition contains mixed earth from both Golgotha, Jerusalem and Whitby Abbey, England. Whitby is the landing and stranding place of Dracula's ghost ship Demeter, delivering the fifty oblong boxes ("a number of great wooden boxes filled with mould") which find their way to the Count's chapel at Carfax. This earth is essential to Dracula, it forms "his earth-home, his coffin-home, his hell-home..."

It is this earth which is later sterilised and rendered more holy by Dr. . It is this earth which is contained and rendered audibly and psychically influential anew with the ERD/ERD vampiric edition.

ERD/ERD (Earth Return Distortion) is the first and most extreme expression of the ERD philosophy, seeking to literally put the earth back into circuit with technology. All world electricity travels through the earth and nearly all electronic circuitry and devices are extracted and refined from the earth. ERD/ERD puts a small block of forest earth into the Eurorack circuit, allowing control and audio signals to be distorted and amplified as they pass through the earth block. It can be viewed in conventional terms as an earth conditioned VCA (amplification factor by knob control or CV) and distortion. Local electrical and atmospheric signals can condition and distort the earth signal. Two jack connections are also included, optionally switching out the local earth block in favour of routing through local earth piles and forest sites.
