Up for sale, a 1950s National Debonaire electric archtop in excellent condition and in good working order. This instrument excels both acoustically and when plugged in, with a 3 3/8" body depth and 15" lower bout delivering a pronounced and clear archtop tone. The midrange is present without being overbearing and lead lines come through with plenty of zing in the top end and tight bass. When plugged in, the neck pickup has a warm, wooly tone with moderate output, ideal for complex jazz chord voicings and a perfect match with your favorite low wattage tube amp. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and strung with a fresh set of 10-46 nickel strings, this Debonaire is a rare and stunning National archtop, ready for the stage and studio!

The neck has a perfect medium C profile that stays consistent as you move up the fretboard and fills the palm nicely without being too chunky. The original frets are intact on the Brazilian rosewood fretboard, showing only very light wear in the first position and seemingly retaining all of their original height with decades of life left. On the headstock, the original raised "National" logo is intact along with a set of period correct Kluson single line strip tuners which feature new aged white buttons. This guitar was once fitted with Grover tuning machines, but now with a set of Klusons once again installed, there are no visible holes from other tuners and correct bushings have been installed so that the current pegs sit snug and secure.

On the body, the simple and elegant electronics layout works exactly as it should, with Volume and Tone controls for the single neck pickup. Actually an oversized single coil with an alnico bar magnet, the National pickups have a look and tone all their own and provide a great alternative to more traditional tonalities, especially in ensemble situations. The tailpiece is original and the bridge is likely original as well and definitely period correct, with a rosewood saddle and arched base. Cosmetically, this guitar is truly in fantastic shape, with some light checking on the body and a few stray tiny nicks, but no serious wear of any kind! There is also one additional tiny hole (aside from the mount for the missing pickguard) between the bridge and tailpiece that served an unknown purpose but is extremely small. Overall this Debonaire a very clean and complete vintage USA made National archtop!
