We're delighted to be offering for sale without doubt one of the most stunning, original '59 Les Paul Standard's ever made. Widely known as the Richrath Burst, 9 0614 was formerly owned by Gary Richrath of US band REO Speedwagon. It is now owned by Burst collector and co-owner of Lucky Fret Music Co. Andrew Raymond, having been in his possession since 1998.

The Richrath Burst is well known in the Burst dealer community having been owned by some of the most prolific names in the business; Jacques Mazzoleni who initially acquired the guitar from Gary's girlfriend around 1990, then passing through the hands of Richard Friedman, Kosta Kovachev and Gil Southworth, only to return to Jacques in 1998 from whom Andrew purchased the guitar. It was also given a thorough workout by the one and only Joe Bonamassa during his show at the Cardiff Motorpoint Arena in 2018, used on the song "Breaking Up Someone's Home."

The most attractive feature of this guitar is without doubt its stunning flame amber top: consistent, even and visible from all angles. This along with it's exposed double white PAF's make it undoubtedly one of the nicest looking Bursts to have come to market in a while.

The neck has had a full overspray prior to Andrew's ownership, and the board was levelled and nut replaced during a recent refret so it more than lives up to expectations playability wise. The A-string tuner is an earlier 50s replacement too, and while it features original double-white PAF's they are not original to the guitar itself. They read 7.96 (neck) and 8.74 (bridge.)

The tone is staggering. All of the clarity, bite, sustain and balance which has made this era Les Paul the holy grail of solid body electrics.

In addition it has appeared in several publications; Vic Da Pra's "Burst," "Sunburst Alley" and "Burst Believers 2 & 3."
