A Beautiful Levinson Blade Classic R-2 in Excellent Condition
We remember these when they were first available in Canada (26 years ago!) but can't remember if this is an R-2 or an R-4 - I seem to remember the Sepia guard and the 2 piece highly figured ash body make it an R-4, but we're listing with both designations.
Levinson is still in business and building great new guitars - take a closer look at their site, and look at the current new price(!)
These are wonderful, very well built and rarely seen guitars. Designed by Gary Levinson in Switzerland and built in Japan, circa 1990. Featuring the "Suhr" head stock shape and original Levinson Designed pickups, Falcon tremolo bridge and VSC Boost Circuit.
Gary Spent many years as a repairman before moving to Switzerland... then many years building custom guitars before establishing the "Levinson Blade" brand of guitar. It's these years of experience that has gone into the design of his guitars and interesting developments in design such as the variable tension string tree and Falcon Trem Bridge.
These are fantastic guitars - playing and sounding (and looking).
This is in excellent condition with a few minor small scuffs as seen in the photos. Some very light wear on back of body near trem cavity - that light hair type wear that you see when the light hits in a certain way... seen in the close up picture of the back of the guitar where the neck plate and trem caavity cover are in view.
Someone, at some point, tried to clean the trem cavity cover with something that left abrasive marks on the cover. Almost looks like it reacted with the plastic of the cover. It's just cosmetic.
The set screw that fits in the bridge to adjust the tension of the tremolo arm is missing. If you want to secure the arm in a position, you will need to install one in order to tighten the arm in place.
Please Note: This guitar is a very deep transparent Wine Red Burst!!
Some of the pictures make the guitar appear much more "Orangey" in colour. It is a difficult colour to capture with a digital camera and to capture the wonderful grain of the Sen Ash body. The back of the guitar was the most difficult... it is the same deep wine red as the front pictures.
Please ask us for any more detailed pictures of any part of the guitar.
