About This Listing

A wonderful banjo that I've used regularly for ten years. The 12" rim is a 20's or 30's Slingerland, and the neck was made by an unknown maker sometime in the last few decades. The neck is straight and playability is very smooth. The 5th string tuner is a Gotoh, but the others are Waverly. All tuners have matching buttons. A few 5th string spikes have been installed and the Elite head was installed several years ago. It has been kept in very good condition, has been occasionally serviced by excellent luthiers, and has held up through many gigs. Has a sweet, rich tone with great low end. Good for clawhammer and picking. Sad to let it go, but I'm taking my music in a different direction.

In 2014 this banjo was appraised in person by the experts at Elderly Instruments to be valued between $700-800. They were unable to determine the maker of the neck, but had good things to say about its construction. I am selling this banjo with a recent Superior bump case (value: $125) in great shape.

A curious piece of banjo history that is suitable for professionals, casual players, and collectors. Please inquire with any questions.
