About This Listing

Offered is a 1973 Oscar Teller Classcal Guitar, Model 5. Hand built by Horst Teller (Oscar's son) in West Germany, 1973. The Model 5 was a a premium instrument that sold for 255 DM back in 1973, about a month's salary at the time. It's a fine vintage instrument with a nice and bold sound palette, and a guitar for the serious performer. The top is made of fine German spruce with a beautiful inlaid wooden rosette. The back and sides are flamed maple, delivering clear articulate treble and deep bass that's versatile for classical, flamenco, fingerstyle, bossa nova, etc. The guitar has matured nicely into an expressive instrument, and an experienced player will appreciate its beauty and colorful tones (The ubiquitous '60s tune 'Classical Gas' was famously composed and recorded on a an Oscar Teller). It's in clean collector shape with some age-appropriate cosmetic wear if you parse closely, including light finish checking on the body and small finish dings around 3rd-5th fret (pictured), none of which affect functionality. If you were to order a similar new build by Wolfgang Teller today you'd likely be paying over £3,000. Includes a premium PRG black tolex hardshell case as pictured. Please review all photos carefully as they're an integral part of the item description.
