About This Listing

Offered is a 1973 Oscar Teller Classcal Guitar, Model 5. Handcrafted by Horst Teller (Oscar's son) in West Germany, 1973. The Model 5 was a premium instrument which sold for 255 DM back in 1973, about a month's salary at the time. It's a fine vintage instrument with a beautiful sound palette, and a guitar for the serious performer. The top is made of fine German spruce with a beautiful soundhole rosette. The back and sides are flamed maple, delivering clear articulate treble and deep bass that's versatile for classical, fingerstyle, bossa nova, etc. The guitar has matured into a nice expressive instrument, and the experienced player will appreciate its tone colours (The ubiquitous 1960s single 'Classical Gas' was originally composed and recorded on an Oscar Teller classical). It's in superb clean condition for its age with light age-appropriate wear only if you parse closely, including some varnish checking and small cosmetic dings behind the 3rd-5th fret (pictured), none of which affect functionality. Here's an opportunity to purchase a high quality vintage luthier instrument at a very reasonable price - similar contemporary craftsman builds by Wolfgang Teller would cost £2,999+ nowadays. Sample black case is not included, but the guitar will be shipped safely in a premium Roadrunner blue softcase as pictured. Please review all photos carefully as they're an integral part of the item description.
