THIS GUITAR IS A USA, HANDBUILT J.BACKLUND JBD-200 PROTOTYPE SERIAL NUMBER 0001.
it was completely handmade by myself ( Bruce Bennett) while under contract with BML inc.  and was built sometime around 2008,  this was the original company that first produced John Backlunds radical new guitar designs. this guitar is NOT an Eastwood version.
this guitar actually won best in show at the 2010 Newport Guitar festival at the Hard rock cafe/casino in Hollywood FL.

It comes with the original Ultimate Support GS-100 Guitar stand included in the custom built G&G snake skin covered case.

This guitars story is simple.  After being built and shown for numerous magazines and promotional events,  It ultimately became an endorsement guitar.
It was originally given to a touring country group called "The Van Lears" and was featured in several video and album releases.

I purchased this guitar from Trey Van Lear in Dec 2018 and have thoroughly checked it over, and while it was used on the road for 8-9 years,  its in remarkably good condition. it does have a few minor dinks and dents and a couple chips even . but overall its still very nice, and If someone wants , I  will happily refinish it for you to its original pristine glory.

A nearly heel-less bolt on design,  the body is solid aged Honduran mahogany,  while the neck is of rock maple with a maple fretboard and has the trademarked Ebony "fang and sidebar" inlays.
the compound radius of the fretboard is an unusual 7.25" to 12" at the last fret. and as far as my memory serves no other J.Backlund had this radius. they all had 12-16 compounds as standard.
the scale is 24.75 giving the neck a distinct gibson-esque feel.
 Nut width is 1.700
the tuners are Hipshot locking with a hand made bone nut. the truss rod is a dual action style and is two way adjustable.
the electronics are all CTS pots, CRL 3 way switch and Switchcraft output jack on an Electro-socket jack cup.
all metalwork was hand done, including the Engine Turned 316 Mill finish stainless steel work.
the "pickguard" also serves as pickup mount, string tailpiece and bridge mount. the control plate is also Engine Turned stainless steel.
the pickups are a Dimarzio 36th Anniversary PAF in the bridge and a Kent Armstrong chrome lipstick single coil in the neck. and the tones are very complementary to each other.
the action is low and the guitar has a very solid tone with a slight Tele-ish "tink" about it. probably due to the metal on metal bridge and pickguard plate design.

J.Backlund Design guitars are a genuine piece of Guitar design history,
John Backlund's radical guitar Artwork has obviously influenced a new revolution in Guitar designs that has resulted in major manufacturers like Music Man, Fender, and even Gibson to begin offering new models that were decidedly "outside the box."  as well as influencing a wide range of new builders.

Of the JBD-200 model,  there were less than 35 pieces ever made. so to call it "rare" is an understatement.
and to find SERIAL NUMBER ONE is a once in a lifetime opportunity.. also the LAST J.Backlund Design to be built was in 2013.

as an example of what rare limited guitars design can do in the market place. I purchased brand new, a Rickenbacker 350SH Suzanna Hoffs in 1989 for $1638.00 with tax.. at one point they hit 12K and are currently hovering between 4k and 6K IF you can find 1 of the 250 ever made.
The J Backlund Design guitars only number 75 units across 7 different models.
and the new Eastwood built  "Backlunds"  are being sold today for around 1200 new.

Honestly, the price is negotiable, but IMHO.  This guitar is a serious collectors piece and belongs in a place where it can be preserved for histories sake.

Special notes:
This unit was the 3rd and final revision of the original design drawings,  and it originally had Blue anodized Lace Alumitone pickups in it.
and according to the neck pickup cavity note, (see photos)  it was modified in 2011.
the DiMarzio and Kent Armstrong pickups wee installed likely at the Artists request. ( in this case Trey Van Lear) at that time.
however after digging through my old junk boxes, i found the original blue Lace pickups and will include them in the sale. along with all of the extra N-Tune paperwork and extra dial faces truss rod wrench & Strap locks.
all of the J.Backlund Designs were a true labor of love.
