ESP Custom Shop version of the Masayoshi Yamashita Model PPJ-160  made in the original esp factory before it burnt down

ESP PPJ-160 bass that was made for Loudness bassist Masayoshi Yamashita in 1986. The PPJ-160 is Yamashita’s signature model bass but custom ordered to be made lefty and in cobalt blue.

The pickups are two precision bass pickups in the sweet spot and a single jazz bass pickup at the bridge (upgraded to EMG by Esp luthier)PPJ model 160 denotes the price in Yen at the time– Yen 160,000 = USD 1,400 The precision pickups are canted so that the one at the neck is for the D and G strings, and the one closer to the bridge covers the E and A strings.

The bass has been played and has a strap button hole in the bottom horn as well as minor chips from years of touring and use throughout the 80’s but has been taken care of since then and stored in climate controlled smoke free studio.
