This is a “Goth” edition. The hardware this guitar came with was garbage. I replaced the bridge, posts, and saddles with Nickel plated “Tone Pro” products. It has locking tuners as well which is always a plus when I’m restringing a guitar. I installed a Duncan Distortion in the bridge and a 57 Classic in the neck.
The Body is mahogany and the fretboard is ebony (solid black, no dots!). Replaced speed knobs with vintage “witch hats”. I have all the old hardware if you want me to send as well..
I bought an Explorer case for it from the late 70’s that set me back $200.
Goth edition guitars are usually around a thousand but this one is WWAAYYYY classier
and has premium parts. Right now it’s tuned a step down with 11 gauge strings on it and it sounds incredible. Really fun guitar to play! It’s pretty specific tho. Hopefully this is exactly the kind of Explorer you were looking for?
PS, why is this $900? The case (from the 70s), the hardware (tone pro) and the pickups (57 neck/ Duncan Distortion bridge). I’m not desperate so don’t make a $400.00 offer.
One more thing that keeps coming up, Explorers are big. Huge in fact. People think it’s a bass when they see case. The guitar inside the case weighs a lot. That’s why it’s $100 to ship. I just shipped a double cutaway LP Jr. in a soft case (which probably weighs half of what the Explorer inside the case weighs) and it cost me $90. Y’all Explorer fans might be the most finicky players out there...
