Classic 'Vintage' Panasonic RX-5100 Boombox in Nice shape and good working order.

Panasonic is among the top of the list of Boombox makers. This is a very well made, solidly built radio. Nothing like the cheap, flimsy boomboxes of today.

Comes with AC power cord and RCA to 1/8" cord for playing devices such as CD player, MP3, Smartphone, etc.

These Boomboxes from Golden era of Boomboxes were really well made. Plenty of power and good sounding speakers.
This radio has a very rich tone. Full bass and good fidelity.
The FM and AM bring in stations very well. Strong tuner.
FM Stereo (multiplex) works as well, giving you true stereo from the radio. You can also turn off the stereo option.

Cassette player works surprisingly well. With older radios/cassettes like this, the cassette player often
doesn't work, usually due to worn out or broken belt(s), etc.
This one is playing nicely and sounds good. No dragging or fluttering going on.
It's possible the belts were replaced at one time, but I kind of doubt it.
The radio was clean and well kept, so I think the belts have just survived.
This doesn't appear to have ever been a 'garage radio'.
Rew and FF work fine.

I recorded from the radio and the recording was really clear and good sounding.
I also recorded using the 2 built-in mics, recording my voice.
Nice, high quality recording from these built in mics.
Also recorded from the RCA inputs (line in) and it records great there too.
I did clean the heads and tape path, though they weren't particularly dirty.
But being 30+ years old, oxidation will still form, so it's a good idea to clean them.
The heads and pinch roller are in great shape.
I also cleaned all the rca connections for good connectivity.

Output RCA jacks (line out) also work as they should.

Headphone jack works nicely. No cutting out or problems.

LED Level meter works as it should. All lights working. Handy when recording.

Tape counter works.

Tuner dial moves smoothly and looks great. No slipping or binding.

Handle is firm and solidly attached.

Having the "Line In" (stereo rca's) feature is great, allowing you to play a CD player, Smartphone, mp3 player, etc, through
the Boombox. Anything that is line level. I'm including an 1/8" (standard small headphone type jack/plug) to 2 (left and right) rca

cord with the Boombox so you'll be set up and ready to go.

***Note: (You can't run a record player into the rca's w/out a phono preamp, just for the record...no pun intended.
The signal from a record player or phonograph is too low and you will only hear a faint sound.
This is standard with any input that is not a 'phono'input. The exception might be if you've got a recent
turntable that has a built in phono preamp, designed/intended to be used w/ modern equipment.
If your record player doesn't mention that it has a preamp, then it probably doesn't.
Just wanted to point that out. You can buy a phono preamp for under $20 online. The cheap ones do fine).

Physically and cosmetically it's in nice shape too. Clean and good looking.

There are a few bumps and bruises that I will point out, though, just so there's no surprises:

I show these in the photos. There is a ding or shallow dent on the front, above the tape door. It's not that bad, but again, worth
mentioning in case you overlooked it in the photos. The battery door, at the bottom, has a chip out of it, but still snaps into

place firmly, like it should, and doesn't cause any problems and is not visually noticeable really.
The antenna has a ding/dent in it towards the base. It still pulls out and is not anywhere near in danger of breaking off.
The antenna is still firmly mounted and pulls out as I've shown in the photos. I'm not sure if it's intended to pull out
a little further, maybe one more 'segment' (what would probably be another foot or less) but it does the job as it is.
It's got a little bend to it, but works fine.
This boombox has really good radio reception as I said earlier. They must have built a nice tuner into this thing.
There was some mild corrosion in the battery compartment when I got it, but nothing bad at all.
Some corroded batteries were in it a one time in the past. I cleaned it up
and cleaned the contact points for the batteries and it runs great with batteries.
The 'springy' contact at one end of the battery compartment still has some oxidation on it,
but I cleaned the last few winds of the spring where it contacts the battery, and it works as it should.
Probably would have worked fine anyway, but now we know it's making good contact with the battery.
There is a VERY light bit of pitting in some of the chrome, mainly on the ends of the handle. But it is very minimal
and doesn't detract from the radio at all. Just want to mention it and be thorough.
Lastly, there are some letters written on the bottom in sharpie. It was someone's name. I blocked off a few letters so it
no longer spells someone's name. Just to be considerate, I guess. Again, not a big deal, but it is there. Again, see pics.

So, Great radio...built like a tank....Sounds great...tape deck is working well... Classic Boombox from the 80's.
Not pristine, collector grade condition, but in really good shape,
despite a few minor, cosmetic flaws (which I went overboard in describing...as usual)
And they are minor. It looks great, sitting in the room.
