1959-1960 Fender Duo Sonic in Sunburst with Maple Neck and Original Case

The Serial number on the Neck plate is for 1958. The pots date it to the 6th week of 1960. This is the only Duo Sonic that I can find with a sunburst finish and a patent number logo maple neck as Fender switched to rosewood fretboards in 1960. The base of the neck is not marked with a date making the neck from early 1959. Fender stoped penciling dates on their necks in 1959 because of a complaint that workers were writing curse words on the necks. Because of this event an undated Fender from 1959 is said to be from "the curse word era". Undated necks lasted for less then a year before Fender started stamping dates on necks. So it's pretty rare. I have yet to see a curse word on a 1959 neck but that's the story. This guitar might be the only Sunburst Duo Sonic with a maple neck. This Guitar was a closet case. It's in incredible shape. This guitar has no finish checking and the color has not faded at all. The frets have almost no wear. The knobs look like they've never been touched. There is a little bit of scuffing on the edge of the guitar and it's missing the bottom strap button. This guitar plays amazing. Duo sonics have a 22.5" scale length making it shorter then a Strat. It's also lot cheaper then a Stratocaster from the same period. This guitar weighs 6 pounds. If you want what might be the only Sunburst Duo Sonic with a factory maple neck left over from the 1959 with the patent number Fender logo in fantastic condition, this is the Duo Sonic for you. This Guitar comes with it's original case.
