Al Beardsell, of Beardsell Guitars, is known for crafting striking instruments that are highly playable and sonically rich. The Model 3D-ms is no exception. It is a mid-sized ( 16" ), multiscale finger-style guitar in Lutz spruce and Indian rosewood. The multi-scale system has a 1.1" differential -- 24.9"- 26" with a vertical fret at the 7th fret. The Fingerboard/bridge/headplate veneers are Macassar ebony. The top and back are mounted to sides we call the Platform rim-- a triple-lamination of the side, a heavily kerfed basswood interior spacer, and an inside veneer. This super-stiff rim reenforces the side-port and creates maximum projection. The top is X-braced , the back is radially braced . There are 24 frets on the treble, and florentine cutaway for access to them. What the critics are saying about the Beardsell Guitar model 3: "The cutaway and the small, oval-shaped soundhole with its art deco-inspired black and white rosette evoke the classic Maccaferri/Selmer designs of the Thirties, but the sound ports, multi-scale fretboard, asymmetrical headstock and angled lower bass bout armrest turn that concept on its head. The guitar produces modern-minded tones as well, delivering the highs and bite of an archtop combined with the bass bark of a dreadnought." - Bob Carlin, Guitar Player
