Fully Restored Panasonic EA-802 Stereo Integrated Tube Amp (MF-800 System Based On Luxman SQ5B) - Uber Cool Audio Meter And Motional Feedback System!

For sale is a fully refurbished Panasonic EA-802 integrated tube amplifier. This is an incredibly rare system that Panasonic introduced based on the Luxman SQ5B with the addition of a controllable motional feedback system. This design does use Luxman transformers and is essentially a Luxman in Panasonic clothing! The amplifier itself is a fantastic performer in all regards - putting out around 14W into an 8 Ohm load (rated at 20W peak). This little integrated is amazing! Clean punchy bass, clear highs and all of the detail/imaging that one would expect from a tube amp with such high quality transformers. And of course the meters on the front are insanely cool and function flawlessly.

The speakers shown in the pics are NOT included anymore. They were cosmetically trashed and completely non functional. So we are relisting this amp with a lower price and much lower shipping costs.

Cosmetics and the electronic restoration are covered below.

Cosmetically, the amp itself has a very clean faceplate/knobs etc and some wear and tear on the wood case. We lightly refinished it without aggressive sanding and were pleasantly surprised with how well the case cleaned up. The speakers, as mentioned above, are included for show only currently because we do not see a way to get inside to restore them.

The restoration of the amp involved first rebuilding the power supply from the ground up with modern high performance/temperature caps and new resistors, diodes etc. We also replaced the power cord and wired in a thermistor which will help prevent arcing of the power switch in the future and helps to slow start the amp. Then all vintage signal caps are replaced with high quality modern film caps and all resistors are checked over for physical damage and value. Next all solder joints were checked over with a fine toothed comb. The meter lamps were replaced with modern blue LED assemblies which really POP and should last for as long as the amp does. Lastly all controls are cleaned thoroughly and all tubes are checked on our TV-7. The output tubes are a nice quad of vintage USA made EL84 and the rest of the tubes are the original Matsushita labeled ones or quality modern replacements.

Currently the speaker outputs use proprietary connectors but we would be happy to modify the amp for different speaker connectors or banana plugs if desired.
