The Toby Deluxe IV features the classic ergonomic body shape that bassists find so easy to play, providing a focused, ‘finished’ sound that has all the punch of an upright bass with all the clear detail of an electric. And now, the Toby Deluxe IV comes with an Active Tonexpressor™ Bass Enhancement Control for making creative blends and fine adjustments to cut through dense mixes.
The Toby Deluxe IV features a solid radiata body and a flush-mount, low profile, adjustable bridge. The Toby Deluxe’s most legendary feature is its hard maple Tobias™ Asymmetrical Neck profile which is a bolt-on design with recessed bolts and washers for easy adjustments. Tobias basses were among the first to feature an asymmetrical neck, a design where the neck is thinner on the lower side than on the upper side. The asymmetric back shape feels less bulky than standard bass necks allowing for maximum hand comfort. While these Satin finished necks might "feel" thinner, there is still sufficient thickness on the upper side to provide for excellent strength, stability and--best of all--deep, rich tone. Your thumb will find easy reference points as your hand glides up and down the fretboard. The neck has a 34” scale length for enhanced clarity, a rosewood fingerboard with a 12” fingerboard radius and a 1.68” nut.
The Toby Deluxe IV electronics feature classic Tobias-designed pickups with a Tobias TBR™ Dual Rail Humbucker in the neck and a Tobias TBT™ Dual Rail Humbucker at the bridge. Controls are all-metal Knurled knobs and include Master Volume, Pickup Blend with center Detent, and Master Tone. Also included is an Active Tonexpressor™ Bass Enhancement Control which enables bassists the option of making creative blends. The Active Tonexpressor™ is also a powerful ally on stage when you need fine adjustments to cut through dense mixes. The Active Tonexpressor™ uses an easy-to-change 9-volt battery.
The Toby Deluxe IV features Epiphone's rock solid hardware including deluxe diecast tuners with a 17:1 ratio ensuring lifelong tuning stability. The bridge is flush-mounted for a low profile and is fully adjustable.

Why buy a refurbished bass?
I specialize in manufacturer refurbished guitars and basses because I believe they are a tremendous value. These instruments have actually passed more quality tests than those that go straight from the manufacturer to a music store. These instruments do not have major flaws, they have had a minor issue such as a slight finish blemish or perhaps an electrical issue such as a loose solder joint. I buy my guitars and basses from the largest, and in my opinion the best, refurbishing center in the country located near Nashville. They are staffed with factory trained luthiers who take great pride in the products they put up for sale. Each instrument must pass 5 tests before it is released for sale. Some of the models are discontinued and have no issues at all. Each instrument is stamped used and issued a new serial number. This is to prevent unethical retailers from selling these instruments as new rather than refurbished, because a refurbished instrument does not carry the manufacturer warrany. I live close enough to Nashville that I travel to the factory and pick out my guitars myself. I play each one prior to listing it for sale. You can be assured if I would not be proud to give it as a gift, I will not take it.
The pictures in my listings are ALWAYS of the actual instrument that is listed, I never use stock photos for a refurbished instrument. If I know why the instrument was sent for refurbishing I will put it in the listing, however many of them are rated NVR, which means no visible repair. I am a musician first, and that drives my choice of instruments to sell and the detail that I give in answering any questions.
