Vintage Larson Made Stetson & Co. Acoustic Guitar Project *Make Offer*

Right out of the gate, this is a MAKE OFFER listing as I do not necessarily feel it is worth my posted price (but could be...). This beautiful & rare bird of an instrument does need repair, but should all be doable in the hands of an expert luthier. That being said, please consider the following:

I found this incredible instrument recently at a thrift store in my area & they obviously had no idea what they had on their hands. It has a few issues, but really is very clean overall & all original as far as I can tell (99.99% certain on this).

The issues are as follows: neck needs some straightening as has a slight bow to it, but cannot detect any warpage or twisting (see pic "looking down the barrel"). Only the first 3 to 4 frets really show wear, but look playable as just typical indenting. There is some mis-shaping of the sound hole on the fret board side, but suspect if steamed & clamped, could be brought back to flat again.

The guitar has no cracks anywhere that I could detect & I looked it over VERY closely. The finish appears to be original. The top has aged to a gorgeous honey amber & the side show some finish wear from age, but nothing heavy.

The top looks very flat & the bridge is intact with no damage or significant wear. No bridge pins & there were none when I found the guitar, but holes for same all look good to go.

Tuners are original & in excellent condition. Binding is all intact & also excellent. There is an area at the neck heel where the sides have pulled just under the outer edge of the binding, but looks like an easy fix.

This guitar has ladder bracing & 18 frets.

Another Larson built Stetson from the same era (estimate 20's-30's) sold for voer 2k on ebay recently ( ) & that guitar had serious issues such as all sides cracked, bridge replaced with new classical bridge, apparently non-original tuners, cracked binding...

This guitar is in MUCH better condition & basically just looking at a neck straightening, reshape the soundhole & replace a few frets (really does not beg all to be replaced, just the first 3 or 4).

Also, it has a metal "trapeze" stype tailpiece on it when I found it, but I removed it. It left 3 tiny holes on the back side that will need to be filled. Also, the strap button in the area is pretty worn down.

I found another Larson made Stetson that sold through Gryphon for nearly 3k, but it was a less desirable parlor model. This is a full-sized & much more desirable guitar with dimensions as follows:

Width at widest part of body: 14.5"

At waist: 8.5"

From upper to lower bout: 10.5"

Deepest depth of body: 4.25"

Shallowest depth at bout area near neck heel: 3.75"

Length of body: 18"

Soundhole diameter: 4"

Width of neck at 9th fret: just a hair under 2 1/4"

Back & sides look ot be Brazilian Rosewood with possibly cedar top? & neck looks to be mahogany with rosewood fretboard.

Currently plan to ship in newer, basic semi-hard case, but if offer generous enough, will actually go to my local GC & buy a brand-new plush-lined hard case for it at no additional cost.

Again, this is a MAKE OFFER listing, so please just make the most generous offer you can as I do have some idea as to what I should get for this rare instrument that has tons of potential & really in great condition given issues that need repair/restoration.
