The Kat company was one of the first to set the standards for electric percussion. It is an excellent company that has created some of the most well built kits around. The pads are rubber and feel great! I think this is the best entry level electric kit on the market because of the the quality pads and construction. It has about over 400 drum sounds built in, and the pads feel GREAT. Plus they are 9" which makes them a comfortable target, unlike others in this price range with smaller pads.
