From my personal collection, here's a beautiful vintage 1991 (1992 model year) Ibanez RG770DX (deluxe edition) electric guitar in desirable and rare CANDY APPLE RED. The most common color you usually see on this model is the darker RUBY RED. Candy Apple was only offered on this guitar for the 1992 model year of the 3-year run (1991 thru 1993.) No modifications.

Super clean, excellent condition. See photos. No tarnish on any of the hardware, ultra-clean fretboard and even the factory markings on the IBZ/USA (Dimarzio) pickups are perfect. LO-PRO EDGE tremolo (only available on the 1992 and later models.)  NOTE: The LO-PRO EDGE was NOT available on the REISSUE. Low action, straight neck, and plays and sounds like all Golden Era RG's...effortlessly and MASSIVE. Minor fret wear....tons of life left. NO neck pocket cracks or anything behind the locking nut, which is in itself a small miracle on these. Built at the now-legendary Fuji-Gen factory in Japan during the GOLDEN ERA of Ibanez RG's (1987 to 1993.) NOTHING since even comes close to these original, timeless beauties. There's very good reason why these particular guitars are among the most sought after instruments in the world. Even the ones for sale nowadays that look like road kill are commanding top dollar.

These deluxe models featured all the bling that was available at the time: Cosmo Chrome hardware, Lo-Pro Edge trem, matched color headstock, fully bound neck, hand-inlaid color-matched sharktooth fret markers on a maple fretboard, direct-mounted USA pickups and clear pickguard. It's nearly impossible to find these ORIGINAL RG770's nowadays in this shape, and it was the absolute quintessential model of the RG series. It is rumored that production stopped after just 2 1/2 years because they were severely hurting sales of the JEM line of guitars. (No doubt!)

These originals are far superior to just about everything Ibanez offers nowadays. Let's be honest: Whatever words Ibanez uses to describe their current high-end guitars (e.g. 'Premium', 'J-Custom', 'Prestige', 'Genesis Collection', 'Reissue', 'Anniversary' 'Reissue 2', 'Reissue 3' - LMAO!), THESE ORIGINALS are what they're really trying to duplicate. MAYBE one day they'll be successful, but it hasn't happened yet...and probably won't. Simply put...it's the long-discontinued ONE-PIECE ORIGINAL WIZARD NECK that sets these apart from all the others. When you hold one in your hands it all becomes clear.   And when a guitar becomes 'one' with you, it inspires creativity.

The luthiers who worked at the Fuji-Gen guitar plant during those golden years produced guitars that are simply nothing short of magic. I've tried all the 'latest, greatest' Ibanez offerings throughout the years, but I just kept coming back to these marvels. They are the epitome of PERFECTION. You simply cannot top these very first Square-Heeled, ORIGINAL EDGE TREM (considered by many to be the best Floyd Rose ever offered) masterpieces. (Try those 'flutter' effects with those 'improved' Edge Zero trems.  NOT the same.) Everything on these...from the top-of-the-line hardware, materials, fit, finish, workmanship and play-ability, is just astounding. I and many other Ibanez enthusiasts will tell you, don't waste your time and money on the later 'reissues' of this. (Used reissues are already a dime a dozen, and that's telling.) You'll be sorry you wasted your time and money. And chances of finding an original that hasn't been modified in any way are wearing thin.
