This is a terrific pedal, but I just can't make it work with my setup. It is a high-fidelity recreation of the overdrive/boost pedal used by David Gilmour on all Pink Floyd albums between Obscured by Clouds and Animals (yes, that includes Dark Side of the Moon). In fact, it's so authentic a recreation that it didn't include a DC power jack or an LED. I had them both added by Roger Pinto in Charlottesville, VA, a top-notch guy for pedal mods. It no longer takes batteries, but I consider the trade-off well worth it. There's a small hole drilled into the front edge of the pedal where I originally ran a battery snap adaptor into the case myself, but it's not too noticeable and has no effect on functionality. There are also a couple nicks and scratches on the finish which you can see in the photos.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: The DC jack is CENTER POSITIVE. This is a little unusual for guitar pedals. If you try to use any old power adaptor tip, you will fry your power supply, your pedal, or both. I'm including the center positive power cable I used with my Voodoo Labs power supply because I'm a nice guy.
Please also note, the pedal is 18V, so you'll need an 18 volt power supply or a voltage doubler.
One final note about the Powerboost: it is LOUD. Probably the loudest overdrive you will ever run across. Even with the volume knob all the way down, it will probably be louder than most other pedals. It sounds so good, though, that leaving it on 100% of the time is a very real option. I did this myself before upgrading to a Reeves Custom 50 amp and loved the sound.
