Yamaha EGV103C bowling ball Ibanez Jem Universe swirl finish w HSC

Sorry, this listing has ended.

Ended!

Here's a really unique one! I knew that this weird but cool body would be a perfect Swirl candidate and it turned out great. Looks like the Ironman armor colors. The pictures tell the whole story here (mostly...see below).  If you're new to the swirl technique, it has pretty amazing results with lots of strange patterns and artifacts. Truly, one of a kind piece of art.  Fender and Ibanez really made the finish popular (mostly Vai and Ibanez). Body, control plates, pickguard - and even the knobs got the swirl finish on this. And all are finished with 2 part auto clear. Of course, if you want a different color knob then it's an easy switch (except the pickguard- that would be a custom build), but I always like to build and leave people (or me) with an option to switch things out since the paint and the swirling can be very tricky to reproduce at a later date.

A few other details.

I do a few swirls every year for a hobby and sell a few (otherwise I end up with a pile that never see the light of day).  But I swirl with the intent of keeping each and everyone if not, it's not good enough and I have no idea if they will sell, so I gotta be super happy with the product as it may be mine forever. Anyway, this is my last one of this year's batch (of 4 guitars I'm listing). I struggle with letting this one go because it's just so cool, so unique...but I figure I should get it out there and see if it's real owner is out there.

Here's the story:  I found this cool Yamaha guitar used.  It was in great condition (it is used, so with enough scrutiny, you may find imperfections and hardware wear- normal expectations for a used instrument. Although, I will say that I describe the guitars very accurately- check my feedback); overall, frets are in great shape (medium, I think, definitely not the jumbos you see all the time),  and the neck seems to be right in the middle, not thin, but not a baseball bat either- in fact, it's very comfortable, great action.  Overall, the guitar is nicely balanced and pretty darn comfortable despite the weird shape.

The single coils sound like single coils. And you ARE seeing a tele style neck pickup in the middle position. The original middle pup was super weak, not sure what the issue was, but it wasn't right. I wanted it replaced - plus, I knew it would give some additional tone variation to the guitar.  These original pups are the longer single coil type (which I didn't even know existed until I did some research), so I needed to add an extended baseplate for the mounting screws to fit into the pickguard. I used a piece of thick alloy metal and it made this tele pup sounds huge for a single coil. And this wasn't just me experimenting, it's an easy, well established single coil mod people can do and it worked great! I will be doing this mod on future single coils just for the sound, I like it so much.  Give the mod a try sometime. (The modified pup is a new RoHs - I threw a picture in there of the before and after...and yes, you add an additional ground to the added baseplate to keep everything super quiet.  Anyway...).  The original pup and cover will ship with the guitar if the owner wants to mess around with it.

That's about all I can call out about this one. The pictures tell the story (oh yea, no trem bar, but an easy/cheap aftermarket grab). This will ship in a great condition but generic road runner road runner case as well.

Thanks for checking it out! it's always cool to share these things with the world. let me know if you have any questions. I only ship Continental US.
