Up for Sale is a Kay K-136!
Vintage 1950's Stratotone! Made In USA!
This is really cool. You are looking at a Vintage 1950's Kay K-136 Electric Guitar. Very similar to the Harmony Stratotone H44. This is a "Real" guitar. This is a Neck Through Body guitar. The sides are actually attached to the body almost like ears. A very solid guitar. Has a baseball bat neck. One Single Coil Pickup. Original bake lite knobs. A really great playing and sounding guitar.
I am not sure but I think this guitar has been refinished. In researching the K-136, all the ones I have come across were painted or they stated that the finish had been re-done. There are 4 things that are NOT original on this K-136. The "Kay" headstock logo is a reproduction. The wooden bridge was custom made for this guitar. The Tuning buttons have been replaced with modern Kluson buttons. The Nut was replaced. Other than those items everything else is original. Pickup, Electronics, Pickguard, Volume / Tone knobs, Kluson Tuners, Tailpiece, etc. The K-136 is Kay's equivalent to the Harmony Stratotone H44. The quality and scarcity of these guitars is what keeps these in high demand with not only collectors but Pro Level Players.
Rare and Collectable!
Chipboard Case is Included!
This guitar is NOT a museum piece. This guitar has some very cool wear. This is a guitar you can really use. A "Players" model. This guitar will do nothing but appreciate in value. The cool thing is that you can play this guitar for several years and if you ever want to sell it, you will always get your money back, but will probably end up making a profit.
Everything functions and works fine. Our Luthier did a set up on this guitar and installed new strings. A fret dressing to the fingerboard was done.
Nut Width: 1.71"
Weight: 5.55 lbs.
Cosmetics: Good Condition. Keep in mind that this is a 65+ year old vintage guitar. There is lacquer checking on both sides of the guitar. There are scratches, scuffs, chips and dings on both sides of the body. There are light strumming scratches on the pickguard. The back has typical buckle rash scratches. The headstock has some scratches and chips on the edges. Fretboard in great shape. Overall great "Players" condition. Dripping with "Mojo". The wear is what give it it's charm. Not abused or beat up in any way. It is used. Not perfect. Look at the pictures closely. They will tell the story.
