According to the trumpet gurus on the site Trumpet Master, sometime in the late '50's the famous music publisher G. Schirmer, in order to promote their trumpet sheet music, had a few professional trumpets made with their emblem. The consensus on that site and other net sites in the know is that these horns were made by Martin. When someone recently contacted the Schirmer Company to try to get a more definitive answer they were told that no one now working at Schirmers was working there that long ago and that they could find no records about who made these promotional horns or even that any promotional horns had ever been made. Soooo, the on line consensus that Martin made them may be correct. But when I compared the valve structure to the valves of my other horns the valves on this Schirmer are similar to the valves on my Olds Recording, Opera and Mendez and don't look at all like the valve structure on my Martin Committee, Dansant and Superlative. After more research, I found that the serial number of this horn, #415078, does fit nicely in the Olds serial number list as having been made by them circa '63. I hesitate to contradict the trumpet gurus but I think the evidence supports that this horn was made by Olds in around 1963 and was not made by Martin in the late '50s as they had guessed. Two people recently messaged me that they are sure the horn was made by Holton so I ran the serial number of the horn through the Holton serial number list and it fits nicely as having been made by Holton in '66. I think think they're probably right it was made by Holton.
Regardless, this horn has the wonderful sound notable of horns of that era. It has no dents and only a few dings and bell scratches. The lacquer is about 90% intact. As the last photo shows the valves look like Olds pro valves and the plating on the valves is like new. You can also see that all the slides are free.
This is truly a collectors horn, being both rare and having a not quite certain origin, not even known by the company whose label it displays. But regardless of its shadowy past, it plays beautifully and would stimulate conversation being among the horns of any serious collector.

Comes with a new gig bag and a mouthpiece.
