The Uncle 125 Bass Overdrive (or simply “The Uncle”) is Carcharias Effects’ boomier take on the classic op-amp gain topology—specially modified with bassists in mind. Its features and modes provide a wide range of tonal options, giving you everything from crunchy distortion, to subtle overdrive, to dirty boost.

With the clipping diode switch, you can select between Germanium diodes or LED’s. Guitarists and bassists alike can enjoy the sizzling overdrive of the Germanium diodes. The boomier, bassier, LED-driven overdrive gives the bass an undeniable presence, with crispy and brittle highs perfect for pick attacks. Turn up the gain (but beware of the output volume!) and take your bass to Russian muff-like overdrive territory.

The Blend knob allows you to control how much of the distorted Uncle signal is mixed in with your dry signal, letting bassists preserve their clean signal while dialing in the dirt (great for Germanium diode mode). The Uncle is also excellent in gain-stacking setups, e.g., into a Rat, or a Model T.

Each pedal in this first run of Uncles was entirely hand-made—so each one of them is unique! This means that each circuit board was soldered and tested, each enclosure hand-sanded, polished, and finished, and each bolt was meticulously fastened by one person in his home workshop, in his free time.
