This is a unique Stromberg-Voisinet tenor banjo from the 20's or 30's. I'm sure most people looking at this posting know much more about this brand and banjos in general than I do, so I will be happy to answer any questions about this particular instrument. I've owned it for over 50 years, and except for the first 5 or so, its been mostly stored away in it's original case in a smoke free home. About 20 years ago I noticed that the metal pot had deteriorated to the point where it was crumbling and no longer useable. A friend of mine who worked at a machine shop used the remains of the original pot to build a replacement pot out of brass, and it not only looked beautiful, the sound was loud and beautiful. It's a bit tarnished now as seen in the photos, but with a little work a new owner can make it shine once more. The only other work that's been done to this banjo is a new binding was installed on the neck after the original broke and fell off. Although the strings need to be replaced, the string height seems to be about right. The tuners all work normally. The wood is all very nice except for one small area on the rim. (See pictures) There is a slight musty odor in the case from storage.
I'm offering this banjo for $325 plus shipping, but will consider offers. I will accept Paypal for payment, and will ship quickly and securely. I will only ship to the continental USA.
Please ask questions if you wish. I believe this banjo is all original except for the changes noted above. Thank you.
