I've owned a lot of guitars over the years. This has to be one of the coolest ones for sure. I'm simply thinning the herd a bit.
This began it's life as a 1965 Fender Mustang. It is now...well it is now a ripping hell of a who knows what. The original parts include the neck, neck plate, neck screws, and tuners. One tuner shaft is bent but it still functions.The body is original as well but as you can see it's had a few mods over the years. IT HAS A STRAT INPUT JACK!!!! The headstock decal has been changed. The finish on the back of the neck appears and has the feel of all original.
As best I can tell this is the product of the early 1980s. A couple of the pots date to around 81/82. The Tim Shaw humbucker is around the same era and from what I can gather, the Dimarzio is about the same. So imagine this thing, leaning against the wall in someone's shop. Then the lightbulb goes off. And guess what, it worked! This this is great. I love the tonal possibilities. I love the way it plays. It's a bastard. I can't say it any other way. But it's the sort of guitar you can take out and rock the hell out of for years to come.
My only issue with the mods is that some dope scratched the top and back at some point. The gold is great and the custom cut guard is something to behold. Someone spent a lot of time on this one, thinking up exactly what they wanted.
