This is an extremely rare and unusual guitar made in England c.1933 by Emile Grimshaw. The label inside is hand signed by him as is the serial number 293. This guitar is for slide playing and is completely original. Grimshaw guitars were made in England in the early part of the twentieth century in London, and Emile was one of the best banjo players in England at this time and he passed away in 1943. The body is like an ordinary acoustic but has a wider back and sides which can be removed to reveal an open back. The neck is glued in and the fretboard has 18 frets with various shaped mother-of-pearl fret markers. The headstock has the original three on a side tuners and the ''EG'' initials inlaid in a mother-of-pearl diamond shape. The soundhole is circled with inlays too, which are very worn and warped but complete. There are many scratches and marks and a couple of old splits which obviously were repaired years ago, but this is an original eighty-five year old guitar which comes in its original hardcase!
