I have a 1731 Melcor preamp in api500 format. Hand etched front panel, innards ported over by Paul McCord of Z-XFRM labs. From what I know Melcor was guys that started API back in the day. This thing sounds INCREDIBLE, extended low end past any api preamp i've heard. BIG balls and gorgeous mid range clarity. you can drive this thing for some really nice warm grit as well.
