About This Listing

OK now… We’ve had close to three dozen of the Bourgeois Aged Tone guitars, and every single one has been SPECTACULAR. Having done this for some time now, and having experience with Mr. Bourgeois going back several decades to the single digits in serial numbers, I can tell you these are the best guitars he has ever built. Forty years of testing, listening, and being at the forefront of luthiery now enables him to sit atop a very impressive history. In fact, if you have a “regular” Bourgeois, and have not shopped in a while – you owe it to yourself to compare yours to his new, lightly built, hide glue, thin-finish expertly voiced Aged Tone guitars.

Wake up and smell the music!

JUST ARRIVED at your favorite lumber emporium is this beauty, a Madagascar Rosewood AGED TONE Bourgeois OM with a beautifully “aged” Adirondack spruce top and hide glue construction. We know what to expect, and we expect the best. If you’d like to be part of this celebration, keep an eye on these pages. We’ll say it one more time: We like our guitars old. These new Bourgeois Aged Tone guitars sound old. Face it, old guitars sound better, and folks in the guitar industry are forever trying to find a secret elixir, a time machine, and all manner of things to try to get these shiny new guitars to sound 60 years old – to sound “aged”.

Well… Dana Bourgeois’ new “Aged Tone” guitars are the real deal. Count us among the converted. Long story short: Dana’s expertly voiced tops are heated (“roasted”, cooked”, “baked”, “torrified”, “thermally cured” – choose your verb) in an oxygen-free kiln until they turn a golden brown. The wood stiffens, and gets lighter in weight while it goes through some structual and tonal transformation. Then the guitars are finished with an ultra-thin and hard cyanoacrylate finish and constructed with hide glue. Fast forward to our showroom and your ears: The guitars have an explosively resonant fullness that goes beyond “volume”. Trust us: If a professional level, heirloom grade Brazilian OM is your thing: This vintage-style Brazilian OM with Adirondack top is about as good as a guitar can be. 1 and 3/4″ nut width, 2 and 5/16″ belly bridge, fossil ivory bridge pins, Mammoth ivory nut, herringbone purfling and crosscut ivoroid body binding. We asked Dana to match a “pretty” set of Brazilian with an “equally pretty Adirondack top”. Trust us. You’ll see. We hold this builder, and this guitar in VERY high regard. If you like great guitars, you should call me now.

Since it seems to be the Year of the OM, this thing ought to last about a week. More Aged Tone guitars on order. Ready for the brass ring? You and I need to talk!

Note: While we cannot ship Brazilian Rosewood guitars internationally, we can ship Madagascar Rosewood guitars.

Thanks to Ryan Fitzsimmons at Bourgeois for the fine photos!

Just arrived!!
