OurÿEngelmann Spruce Top Wood for Mandolin isÿready for joining and carving in your shop!
Found all throughout the vast Rocky Mountain wilderness, Engelmann Spruce is a mature, stable tonewood known for its creamy white complexion and its mature, dynamic voice.
Its voice is rich and full, with many similarities to the more conventional favorite European Spruce.
In appearance, Engelmann is much like German Spruce?creamy white with intense medullary rays in the higher grades?but with a more uniform consistency. The early to late growth rings are often fairly even in appearance. It works much like other spruces, but its surface is very delicate, so it's best to work carefully and ensure your work surface is clear of sawdust and other debris.
In short: Engelmann Spruce is rich, complex, and a fantastic choice for mandolin builders.
