This here is quite the rare find, a Paramount Leader Tenor Banjo made in 1924. The Leader was Paramount's stylish professional Tenor banjo, covered in decorative woods and Mother of Pearl. The neck is a 5 piece Indian Rosewood neck with two strips of maple down the middle. The fretboard and resonator are also made of Rosewood, giving this Tenor a surprising amount of sustain.
This banjo is closing in on 100 years old so it's no surprise that this baby has some wear. Part of one of the inlays on the neck is missing, there is some lacquer checking on the back of the resonator, a 6 inch piece of the binding is missing from the bottom of the resonator, and could really use a bath. BUT there is almost no fretwear and no signs that the frets have ever been replaced. The sound on this Tenor is amazing to hear first hand. It has a clarity and sustain that can only come with age. This beautiful collector's piece comes with the original hardshell case and could be all yours at:
