Alvarez
CY116 made in JAPAN by Kazuo Yairi (signed label) serial number 41553, neck
heel block number 0502404, which, according to Alvarez, was made in 1993 (the first "4" means the year of the Emperor of Japan). We have
been selling Alvarez Yairi guitars since 1979 and still sell many today (see our
completed and active listings). Very rich, full, deep bass, excellent balanced
midrange, and “singing” treble. One of, if not THE, best guitars available for under $1000. Beautiful Burled Mahogany back and sides,
SOLID CEDAR top, Ebony
fretboard on a 25.5” scale, 2” nut width, rosewood bridge, ivory multi-bound
rosette. In outstanding original condition showing very little playing wear.
There is a little fretboard wear in the first three frets (see closeup photos),
a very small headstock ding on the back top of the headstock at the very tip,
one small mark on the top above the neck near the rosette, and two small top
scratches behind the bridge at the high “E” and “D” strings (where the former
owner perhaps used ball-end stings at one time and the ball came off-see
photo). The usual very light (shirt button?) marks on the back, but could
easily be polished out. Includes the original factory high-quality dark blue
with stitched light brown “cowhide” trim hardshell case with COMBINATION LOCK,
leather handle, brass latches, hinges and bumpers, which is also in excellent
condition. See for more inventory. Our
instruments have been set up for string height, playability, and intonation (a
$55 expense), are CLEAN, and have no major issues (broken headstocks, changed
or missing parts, severe belt-buckle rash, electronic or trussrod issues,
etc.). Frets are cleaned and fretboards treated with neck honey. We strive to
present only the best and always show large photographs and point out details.
The items we sell are used. Therefore, they may exhibit at least the minimal
amount of wear one would expect on a used musical instrument or accessory for
the item's age. We try to disclose any defects or cosmetic issues to the best
of our abilities and show them in closeup pictures on the auction site.
However, it is impossible to note every nick and scratch on a used instrument
or accessory. We welcome any questions and are more than happy to answer them.
